Why You Should Keep Your Ubiquiti Firmware Up
Ubiquiti has created a firmware that is both reliable and secure. It is important to keep your firmware up to date in order to receive the most recent security patches and bug fixes.
Updating your firmware will also improve your network performance. By upgrading your firmware, you will increase your network’s speed and stability. In addition, you will also be able to take advantage of new features and enhancements that have been added to the firmware.
Ubiquiti recommends that you always update your firmware when it is available. To check whether your firmware is up to date, visit the Ubiquiti website and enter the “Firmware Version” that is displayed on your device. If your firmware is up to date, it will display the current version number.

Ubiquiti had to make some tough decisions when it came to firmware updates. On the one hand, they wanted to keep their product up-to-date with the latest and greatest features and bugfixes. But on the other hand, they didn’t want to release updates that could potentially brick their devices.
After some deliberation, they settled on a two-pronged approach: quarterly updates with new features and bugfixes, and targeted security updates that fix known issues.
The good news is that all of your devices will get the latest features and bugfixes, even if you haven’t updated them in a while. The bad news is that you’ll have to decide which updates to install.
If you’re planning on using your device for a while, it’s probably worth installing the latest features and bugfixes. But if you’re only going to use it for a couple of weeks, you can probably skip the updates and save yourself some hassle.
